How to Choose the Right IBC Tank
1. Determine Your Application
Food and beverage storage requires food-grade certified tanks. Agricultural irrigation can use industrial grade. Rainwater harvesting works fine with economy tanks. Hazardous materials need UN-certified new containers.
2. Choose Your Size
275-gallon is standard and fits most spaces. 330-gallon provides 20% more capacity with only 7 inches additional height. Consider your ceiling clearance, forklift capacity, and volume needs.
3. Consider Previous Contents
We document what each tank previously held. Food-grade tanks come from food/beverage production. Industrial tanks may have held soaps, detergents, or other non-hazardous chemicals. We never sell tanks that previously contained hazardous materials.
4. Understand the Grading System
Visit our Grading Guide for detailed explanations of each condition grade, or check our Size Guide for complete dimensional specifications and weight capacities.

What's Included With Every Tank
No hidden fees, no surprises. Every IBC tank we sell comes with these standard inclusions at no extra cost.
Inspection Report
Every tank ships with a written inspection report documenting its condition grade, previous contents (when known), structural integrity assessment, and any cosmetic notes. You know exactly what you're getting before you open the valve.
Valve Guarantee
We guarantee every valve is functional and leak-free at the time of sale. Butterfly and ball valves are tested under pressure. If a valve fails within 30 days of purchase, we replace it free of charge — no questions asked.
Pallet Condition
The pallet is part of the tank. We inspect every pallet for cracks, rot, and structural integrity. Damaged pallets are replaced before sale. Steel-base and composite-base options are available for heavy-duty or hygienic applications.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an IBC tank?
An IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) is a reusable industrial container designed for storing and transporting liquids and bulk materials. They typically hold 275 or 330 gallons and consist of an HDPE plastic bottle inside a steel cage mounted on a pallet.
How long do used IBC tanks last?
With proper care, a used IBC tank can last 5-10+ additional years for non-food applications like rainwater collection or irrigation. Food-grade reconditioned tanks are best used within 2-3 years of reconditioning to maintain certification standards.
Can I store drinking water in a used IBC?
We do not recommend used IBCs for potable (drinking) water storage. Even food-grade reconditioned tanks are intended for non-potable applications unless paired with an appropriate filtration and treatment system. For drinking water, a new UN-certified tank is the safest choice.
What were the tanks previously used for?
Our tanks come from food and beverage manufacturers, chemical producers, and industrial operations. Food-grade tanks previously held juices, syrups, oils, and similar products. Industrial tanks held soaps, detergents, and non-hazardous chemicals. We never sell tanks that contained hazardous materials.
Do you deliver IBC tanks?
Yes. We offer local delivery throughout the Myrtle Beach area and can arrange freight shipping anywhere in the Southeast US. Delivery fees depend on distance and quantity. Orders of 10+ tanks within the metro area qualify for free delivery.
Can IBC tanks be stacked?
Yes, when filled with liquid, standard IBCs can be stacked two high. The steel cage and pallet are designed for this. Never stack empty IBCs more than one high, and always ensure the bottom tank is on a level, stable surface.
What is the difference between a 275 and 330 gallon tank?
The 330-gallon tank is approximately 7 inches taller than the 275-gallon version but shares the same 48" x 40" pallet footprint. It provides 20% more capacity and is popular for applications where maximum storage volume is needed without increasing floor space.
Do you buy back used IBC tanks?
Yes. We purchase used IBCs in serviceable condition. Tanks must have an intact cage, usable bottle without major cracks, and a functional valve. Contact us with photos and quantity for a buyback quote. We also offer trade-in credits toward new purchases.
