Compatibility Guide

Not all IBC accessories are universal. Use this guide to ensure you order the right parts for your specific tank type and brand.

Valve Thread Types

Most IBC tanks use a 2" (DN50) butterfly valve with a S60x6 coarse thread outlet. However, some European tanks use a 75mm fine thread or 80mm coarse thread. Check your existing valve before ordering a replacement — we can help you identify the thread type from a photo.

Fill Cap Sizing

Standard IBC fill caps are 150mm (approximately 6") with a coarse thread. Some older or specialty tanks use a 160mm or 225mm opening. Measure the inside diameter of your fill opening or send us a photo for confirmation before ordering caps or lids.

Gasket Materials

Buna-N (nitrile) gaskets are the standard for general-purpose and chemical applications. EPDM gaskets are recommended for food-grade and water applications. Viton gaskets are available for aggressive chemicals and high-temperature use. Choose the material that matches your stored contents.

Heating Blanket Sizing

Our heating blankets are designed for standard 275-gallon (48" x 40" x 46") and 330-gallon (48" x 40" x 53") IBCs. Confirm your tank dimensions before ordering. 120V blankets are for standard outlets; 240V versions require a dedicated circuit and are better for continuous industrial use.

Adapter Cross-Compatibility

Garden hose adapters (3/4" GHT) fit all standard US garden hoses. Camlock fittings come in Types A through F — confirm which type your existing equipment uses. Our IBC-to-IBC connectors work with any standard 2" butterfly valve regardless of manufacturer.

Installation Tips

Get the most out of your accessories with these practical installation guidelines. No special tools required for most accessories.

1

Always Use Thread Tape

Wrap all threaded connections with PTFE (Teflon) thread tape before assembly. Apply 3-5 wraps in a clockwise direction when looking at the thread end. This prevents leaks and makes future disassembly easier.

2

Hand-Tighten, Then Quarter Turn

Most IBC fittings are designed for hand-tight plus a quarter turn with a wrench. Over-tightening can crack plastic threads or damage gaskets. If a connection leaks after hand-tightening, add more thread tape rather than forcing it tighter.

3

Replace Gaskets During Any Disassembly

Every time you remove a valve, cap, or adapter, inspect the gasket. If it shows any compression set, cracking, or hardening, replace it. Gaskets are inexpensive and are the most common source of slow leaks on IBC systems.

4

Test Under Pressure Before Filling

After installing new valves, adapters, or connectors, fill the tank with a few inches of water and check every connection for drips. It is much easier to fix a leak when the tank is nearly empty than when it holds 275 gallons.

5

Position Heating Blankets Correctly

Heating blankets should wrap snugly around the IBC bottle, not the cage. Secure with the provided straps and ensure the thermostat probe contacts the bottle surface directly. Place the controller where it is accessible and away from moisture.

6

Secure Daisy-Chain Connections

When linking multiple IBCs, ensure both tanks are on level ground at the same height. The connecting pipe or hose should slope slightly toward the lower tank. Use clamps on both ends and support the connector to prevent strain on the valve threads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do your accessories fit all IBC tank brands?

Most of our accessories are designed for standard IBC specifications (2" DN50 valve, S60x6 thread, 150mm fill cap). These dimensions are used by the majority of manufacturers including Schutz, Mauser, and Greif. If you have a non-standard tank, send us photos and measurements and we will confirm compatibility before you order.

Can I install accessories myself?

Yes. The vast majority of IBC accessories are designed for tool-free or basic-tool installation. Valves, adapters, caps, and covers can typically be installed by hand with PTFE thread tape. Heating blankets wrap on with straps. Only manifold systems and complex plumbing setups may benefit from professional installation.

What materials are food-safe?

For food-grade applications, choose accessories made from HDPE, polypropylene, or stainless steel. EPDM gaskets are food-safe. Avoid brass fittings (lead content) and Buna-N gaskets for food contact. All food-safe accessories in our catalog are clearly labeled.

How often should IBC valves be replaced?

Under normal use, an IBC butterfly valve lasts 3-5 years. Signs it needs replacement include slow leaks around the handle, difficulty turning, or visible cracks in the housing. We recommend replacing gaskets annually and the full valve every 3-5 years or at the first sign of a leak that thread tape cannot fix.

Do you sell individual parts or only bundles?

We sell both. Every item in our accessory bundles is also available individually. Bundles offer a modest discount and ensure you get all the parts needed for a specific project. If you only need a single gasket or adapter, we are happy to sell it on its own.

Can I return accessories if they do not fit?

Yes. Unused accessories in original condition can be returned within 30 days for a full refund or exchange. If you are unsure about compatibility, contact us before ordering with your tank brand and model, and we will confirm the right part for you at no risk.
